"RISE [is] entering the Gigagas Era with a tech stack that enables bandwidth to surpass 1 billion gas per second (Ggas/s).

RISE achieves its performance with a modified network architecture, a FOSS parallel execution engine, and a new state-access design with a targeted focus on maximizing bandwidth and minimizing latency. RISE has developed and open-sourced pevm, a Parallel EVM engine which is the fastest public EVM executor in the market. RISE also features a Continuous Block Pipeline to ensure full CPU utilization with no idle time by continuously executing L2 transactions while waiting for L1 consensus. To tackle state access, RISE is building a Versioned Merkle Tree to minimize disc compaction, and RiseDB, a custom delta-encoded log-structured database."

From their docs:

"The Parallelized EVM (PEVM) is RISE's innovative approach to accelerate EVM execution, addressing the execution bottleneck in Layer 2 solutions. PEVM allows for concurrent execution of transactions within EVM blocks, which are typically processed sequentially. Key features of PEVM include:

Compatibility with reth (Rust Ethereum)
Ability to split transaction execution across multiple CPU cores
Maintenance of deterministic outcomes despite parallel processing

Initial benchmarks show promising results:

For large blocks with few dependencies, PEVM achieved up to 10.55x improvement for Uniswap swaps.
On average, PEVM was 1.73x faster than sequential execution when testing various Ethereum blocks, with the fastest block showing a 3.62x speed increase.
For Layer 2 solutions with large blocks, PEVM is expected to consistently surpass 5x performance improvement."
