Stale Block

Blocks which were successfully mined but which aren’t included on the current best block chain, likely because some other block at the same height had its chain extended first.

A block that has already been solved. Usually a term more popular among the techie side of crypto enthusiasts, it simply refers to a block that can no longer reward miners.
