  • “TransActive Grid is a joint venture uniting LO3 Energy and Consensys. Based on the open source, cryptographically secure decentralized application platform of Ethereum, TransActive Grid’s business logic layer delivers real-time metering of local energy generation and usage as well as other related data; enables real-time purchase and sale of spot delivery of provisioned kilowatt hours on the network, as well as futures and options on delivery, all of which can be traded on an open, decentralized energy trading exchange. This open energy platform is transparent, auditable, non-repudiable, peer-to-peer, and cryptographically secure. Energy network resources (e.g. kWh) are tokenized and offered in a multi-level open market for purchase, sale, or construction of derivatives. Friction in the market is reduced by allowing different classes of users to transact openly on the platform. The first demonstration project is a microgrid installation in Brooklyn, New York in support of Governor Cuomo’s goal of creating local energy networks. This network has the ability to separate from the larger electric grid during extreme weather events or other emergencies.”
