Basics

  • One of the many forks off of Bitcoin in late 2017
  • Bitcoin File is a Bitcoin fork created to integrate the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS), which is a network protocol designed to create a distributed, peer-to-peer method of storing and sharing media. Bitcoin File is building a point-to-point distributed file system with this integration, and it aims to settle this information sharing to the Bitcoin blockchain. Bitcoin File intends to be used to trade files, disk space and bandwidth traffic.
  • Bitcoin File capped the BIFI supply at 21.21 billion, and the founding developers pre-mined 210 million BIFI. At the fork, Bitcoin File credits 1000 BIFI for every 1 BTC.
